10 June 2009 No Comment

Looking for new transportation? The Buckhead Community Bank and The Midtown Community Bank have a deal that may convince you to consider two wheels instead of four. Open a MAX Reward Checking account and you are eligible to apply for a 12-month, 0% loan for the purchase of a bicycle up to $2,500. The bike loan program is being offered in partnership with the Buckhead Area Transportation Management Association (BATMA) and Midtown Transportation Solutions (MTS).

“We take great pride in offering programs that are good for our customers and good for the community,” said Marvin Cosgray, President of The Buckhead Community Bank. “These bike loans will help people take positive steps for their health and for the environment, and at the same time they get the benefits of an outstanding checking account.”

The MAX Reward Checking account pays 4% APY* on balances up to $100,000, has no maintenance fee and provides account holders with free access to ATMs anywhere. To earn the 4% APY account holders must meet three requirements during each billing cycle: 1. Make 10 signature based debit card transactions 2. Receive monthly statement electronically through Online Banking and 3. At least one Direct Deposit or Automatic Payment.

“We are really excited to partner with The Buckhead Community Bank on this program because it offers so many benefits,” said Denise Starling, executive director of BATMA. “Commuting and making short trips by bike is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint and to increase your physical fitness. Add in the benefits of the MAX Reward Checking account, the interest-free loan and your savings from driving less and you could see improvements in your financial health as well.”

BATMA offers several incentives and programs to encourage commuters to bike to work in Buckhead. New bike commuters can earn $3 a day up to $100 over a three-month period. Cyclists who commute to Buckhead by bike three or more days a week can also earn a $20 gift card each month. In addition, commuters who bike to work are eligible to receive up to five free taxi rides home in the case of inclement weather or an emergency. For more information about these programs and other benefits for cycling commuters, visit www.batma.org.

For Midtown commuters, MTS also offers programs and incentives for biking to work. New bike commuters can earn $3 a day up to $100 over a three-month period. Cyclists who commute to Midtown by bike 10 times a month can also earn a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card. In addition, commuters who bike to work are eligible to receive up to five free taxi rides home in the case an unexpected event occurs.
