Is Your Home as Green as Google?

Google can now buy and sell energy in bulk thanks to approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). However, Internet giant Google doesn’t have plans to sell energy to consumers or anyone else. Google plans to use its FERC certification in order to manage its own energy supplies as efficiently as possible. I suppose it does take quite a bit of energy to run the world’s largest search engine! If you think your power bill is high, imagine the energy required to run all of those servers.
In Atlanta, we ...

Legislation to Repeal the Ban on Yard Trimmings going to the landfill

The Bill Would:

Have Dire Economic and Environmental Consequences

Allowing the return of yard trimmings back to landfills would be devastating to small businesses engaged in composting/mulching and recycling programs. The landscaping industry has already suffered significant job losses as a result of the economy and the drought. More jobs would be lost and others would not be created if the state reverses its decision on the ban.
Compost infrastructure is beginning to grow in Georgia as the US EPA has placed food scrap recovery along with yard trimmings at front and center ...

By Paul Pugliese

March is usually the time of year that local garden centers begin major advertising campaigns to sell lawn fertilizers. But depending on the type of grass you have, it may be too early to start fertilizing your lawn. In general, the best time to fertilize a lawn is when it is actively growing.
